From the petal to the mist

The rosewater that carries Boson’s copper-peptide complex is cold-pressed from Rosa damascena harvested at first light in the Isparta highlands of southern Anatolia — the heart of the world’s rose-oil belt. The blooms are picked by hand by a multi-generational cooperative whose families have worked the same valley for over a century.

Picked, refined, and bottled within forty-eight hours — before the volatiles oxidise. The petal-to-vapour ratio is what does the work. We do not dilute. We do not extend.

The refinery

Slow distillation, every batch

Each batch passes through a copper alembic at low temperature for six hours. The copper alembic is the older instrument — the same vessel Anatolian distillers have used for the rose-water trade since the Ottoman era. Copper traces from the still are part of the chemistry: they catalyse the peptide bond that gives Boson its name. Stainless steel produces a different molecule. We tried it. We didn’t keep it.

The Heilerde tradition

A fine glacial loess used in the European apothecary tradition for over two centuries. We work with a single Bavarian quarry, fourth-generation-owned, hand-graded, micro-sieved. Then we remineralise it in our laboratory with a copper-peptide complex — the source of Terra-Mass's distinctive mauve.

There is no synthetic equivalent for ten thousand years of glacial patience.

The Galago and the Lost Seed

The seed at the heart of L'Essence de Galago grows on a fruit that the galago eats, scatters, and is, in some sense, responsible for keeping in circulation. Without the galago, the seed would have been lost a century ago.

The mosquito has been listening

For fifty million years, Anopheles gambiae has been refining its saliva to talk to mammalian skin. The peptides at the heart of A. Gambiae Venom are synthetic analogues — molecularly identical to the originals, manufactured by yeast in a sealed bioreactor at our partner laboratory in Grasse.

No mosquitoes are harmed. The molecule is identical.
